In week 10 of this unit we did a collection of personality tests to find out our style of communication. One of the tests was the 16Personalities personality test. This test was very useful in a few of its elements. These are:
- Its style and “personality”
- Questions posed
- Content and information
The 16Personalities website, fittingly has a very distinct style or “personality”. It has a theme of “blocky” figures and appeals to young people. The style is fitting as it offers distinct vision and different colours for different groups of personality types.
The questions within the website are direct and pointed. Compared to other personality websites they have a far more direct rather than convoluted approach. Presenting agree or disagree options such as: “People can rarely upset you” rather than employing other websites overtly complicated question style.
From this test my personality came out as “campaigner”. I think that this test provided quite accurate results in that I resonate with my personality type quite a bit. Its presentation of information was very enlightening. The individual personality type pages are set out into sections of introduction, strengths and weaknesses, relationships, friendships, etc.
After doing the personality test on the site I was immediately drawn to the strengths and weaknesses section of the website. The way the text was laid out and displayed was immediately catching and the use of text while offering strengths and weaknesses is constructively criticizing while also caters to the audience.
Overall the combination of the interesting style, use of less complicated and straight forward questions and excellent content and information on each personality type. I found that that the test was very informative and helpful in understanding my own personality and communication style.
